There was once a village perched on the edge of a vast forest, where paths twisted like riddles and fog often blurred the way. Travelers came and went—some with maps, others with dreams, and many with questions. But one figure remained constant: the Lantern Keeper.
She was not the fastest, nor the most decorated. Her satchel held no compass, no scroll of achievements. Yet each evening, as dusk fell, she walked the winding paths and lit lanterns—one by one—so others could find their way.
She didn’t tell people which road to take. She simply made sure they could see it.
Some nights, she met wanderers who had lost hope. She listened, quietly, and handed them a flame. “You don’t have to know the whole journey,” she’d say. “Just take the next step in light.”
Years passed. The Lantern Keeper grew older. But the paths she lit remained etched in memory—glowing in the stories of those who had walked them.
The Lantern Keeper represents those who guide not with answers, but with presence. Mentors, peers, even strangers—anyone who offers clarity, encouragement, or a spark of belief when the road feels uncertain.
In your own journey, you may be both traveler and keeper. Sometimes you seek light. Sometimes you carry it.
So, who lit the lantern for you—perhaps without even knowing it? What kind of light do you carry for others? – How might you illuminate someone’s next step, even if you’re still finding your own? Share your insights below⬇
