Testimonial for Joanna Kisakye

My name is Joanna Kisakye, and I am a passionate teacher of English and Literature, as well as a proud Cohort 9 Fellow at Building Tomorrow. My journey in education began with my love for children, sprouting from my experiences as a firstborn child and a Sunday school teacher. While my path to becoming a teacher started somewhat jokingly, it has since blossomed into a profound passion.

This year, I had the privilege of participating in “My Dream Career Challenge” organized by Family Concepts Center in Iganga. There, I shared my story about how my love for children and my experiences have shaped me into the dedicated educator I am today. As a teacher, I believe we are the greatest change-makers because learners spend more time with us than they do with their parents. The joy I get from being around children and the satisfaction I feel from impacting their lives is immeasurable.

One of my greatest achievements this year has been my fellowship at Building Tomorrow. This experience brought me closer to children than ever before and deepened my passion for teaching. Every day, my public speaking skills and confidence continue to grow, and I believe there is much more out there for me. I am tightening my laces and preparing for the incredible journey ahead.

I am immensely proud of myself and committed to celebrating each small step I take. Thank you to Family Concepts Center and the Iganga University Students and Youth Association for providing me the platform to share my story. I look forward to continuing to nurture the future leaders of tomorrow.
