The Family Concepts Center (FCC), with support from TASO through Uganda Development and Health Associates (UDHA), implemented two phases of the Adolescent Girl and Young Women project. Phase III was from January to April 2022, and Phase IV was from June to December 2022.
The Center adopted a community-based approach in all its transactions. In phase III the Center embarked on competence-based training for 53 adolescent girls and young women in Bukonko and Buwolomera training centers in Nawanyingi sub-county in Iganga district. In Phase IV, the Center trained an additional seventy-four (74) AGYW in Namungalwe and Kabira sub-counties. In total FCC trained 127 teenage girls and young women in vocational skills, life planning skills, and sexual and Reproductive health. The AGYW trained in the two phases come from some of the most underprivileged communities in Iganga district.
The project achieved a 100 percent completion rate, with all the 127 girls in phase III certified by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) of the Ministry of Education and Sport s.
