The Adolescent Girl and Young Women’s project (AGYW) (2019-2020)

The Adolescent Girl and Young Women’s (AGYW) project focused on increasing access to young people, particularly vulnerable groups, to vocational education, life planning skills, and sexual and Reproductive Health information in particular HIV/AIDS.

(FCC), with support from the Global Fund through TASO and the Uganda Development and Health Associates (UDHA), implemented the first phase of the Adolescent Girl and Young Women project from 2019 to 2020  using a community-based approach. The Center trained 150 teenage girls and young women in vocational skills, life planning skills, and sexual and Reproductive health. It introduced the girls and young women to three skills: hairdressing, knitting, and tailoring. The project achieved a 98 per cent completion rate, with 147 girls and women certified by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) of the Ministry of Education and Sports.
