Care and Support Program

Family Concepts Center with support from USAID through the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) implemented two projects under the USAID-funded Care and Support Program namely:

  1. Linked Responses: Ensuring Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Services, care and support for OVC in four sub-counties of Iganga district in which life skills development was linked with sexual and reproductive health information and services and vocational skills development.
  2. The Holistic Approach to OVC care and support in Iganga District (2008-2009).

The projects were designed to increase the availability and utilization of care and support services to out-of-school orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), strengthen the ability and capacity of OVC to sustain their livelihood, create awareness of households and communities on care and support of OVC including awareness on children’s rights, and provide health, emotional, and legal support as well as protection to the OVC.
