My Client, Esther shared her life story. In our discussion I understood that she was enveloped in overwhelm and did not have a clear direction in her career. She wanted change. At the Family Concepts Career Advisory service we are working with Esther to understand this overwhelm and the factors in her journey that are shaping the current realities. Our goal is to support Esther develop a career path that would guide her towards suitable career options based on career possibilities and her abilities. Here is Esthers story:
After graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication (Second Class Upper), I embarked on what I believed would be a promising chapter of my life. I entered a relationship, hoping it would lead to marriage, but fate had other plans. In 2012, I welcomed my first son, born on July 15th. When the relationship did not work out as I had envisioned, I found myself back at my parents’ home, navigating the challenges of single motherhood.
Life was difficult, and after some time, my younger sister, who had secured a job, invited me to move in with her. This was a turning point for me and my son, as it provided stability and the opportunity to rethink my future. Determined to build a better life, I turned to prayer, seeking guidance and strength from God. My breakthrough came in 2013 when my elder sister introduced me to a friend who recommended me for a Relations Officer position at an insurance company. This job became my stepping stone, allowing me to meet my personal needs and gain valuable experience in communication and customer service.
After three years in the insurance sector, I came across an opportunity for a Relations Officer role that involved customer care and handling the communication desk. I applied, went through the interview process, and emerged as the top candidate. With my growing expertise in communication, customer service, and counseling, I embraced this new role, which became a defining part of my career. Over the past twelve years, I have honed my skills in speech writing, client relations, and effective communication.
Working with an organization affiliated with the United Nations, I frequently traveled to refugee areas to engage with clients. These experiences deepened my passion for humanitarian work, and I found great fulfillment in serving the underprivileged. The ability to listen, support, and uplift those in need gave me a profound sense of purpose and peace.
As life unfolded, I entered another relationship, which led to marriage and the birth of my second son. However, after four years, the marriage ended, and I once again found myself a single mother. Despite the challenges, I have worked tirelessly to provide for my two boys, ensuring their education and meeting their needs without fail. Through this journey, I have grown into a strong, responsible woman. My faith remains steadfast, and I trust that when the time is right, God will bless me with a loving partner to build a beautiful home once again.
Though life’s twists and turns have prevented me from furthering my education, I remain hopeful. With my background and experience, I aspire to find opportunities that will allow me to advance my career, develop my skills, and continue making a difference in the lives of others.
My love for serving others is where I draw my strength every day. Every opportunity I get to do good for someone, I embrace wholeheartedly. My greatest hope is to put a smile on the face of someone who feels the weight of the world upon them. No matter the challenges I face, I firmly believe that God has a purpose for me and my boys.
